Karan Patel, MD
Dr. Patel is a board-certified refractive cataract surgeon and comprehensive ophthalmologist.
Dr. Patel completed his ophthalmology residency at the Kresge Eye Institute in Detroit, Michigan. Ever proud of his alma mater, he joined the faculty service as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan Kellogg Eye Center. In this role, he trained ophthalmology residents and medical students, helping shape the next generation of eye physicians. He also served as a staff ophthalmologist at the Ann Arbor VA Healthcare System, where he was honored to care for veterans and provide them with high-quality eye care.
With a strong academic background, Dr. Patel has authored peer-reviewed research in ophthalmology and neuroscience and has delivered numerous presentations on topics ranging from corneal disease to advanced imaging techniques. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Medical Association, and the Washington Academy of Eye Physicians and Surgeons.
Originally trained as an aerospace engineer before pursuing medicine, Dr. Patel brings an innovative, detail-oriented approach to ophthalmic care. He is committed to combining technical excellence with compassionate care to help patients achieve their best vision.
In his spare time, Dr. Patel enjoys cooking and trying out new recipes, cheering on his Wolverines and Detroit sports teams, and playing golf and tennis.
